Director of Client Engagement and Strategy

As the Director of Client Engagement & Strategy, you will serve as the senior strategist for our diverse portfolio of law firm clients, driving transformative growth and exceptional client service while mentoring emerging leaders and inspiring a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Execution:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and business development strategies tailored for AmLaw and regional law firms

    • Translate strategic plans into actionable operational processes that deliver measurable results

  • Team Mentorship & Culture:

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of marketing professionals, fostering an environment that values a can-do attitude and proactive problem-solving

    • Champion a culture where every team member is empowered to add value and embrace continuous learning and professional growth

  • Client Engagement & Service Excellence:

    • Serve as the primary strategic advisor to clients, ensuring high-level engagement through effective client team meetings and bespoke business development coaching

    • Maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships by delivering unparalleled service and innovative solutions

  • Operational Innovation & Change Management:

    • Oversee the refinement and implementation of service delivery processes that enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction

    • Lead the charge in change management initiatives, both within our firms and in Builden, ensuring seamless onboarding of new clients and adaptation to evolving market trends

  • Business Development & Growth:

    • Leverage deep industry expertise to identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding our client base and reinforcing Builden’s national brand presence

    • Play an active role in strategic decision-making as a key member of Builden’s leadership team

    • Lead business development coaching for partners, associates, and practice groups

Candidate Profile

  • Experience:

    • A minimum of 10 years in marketing and business development with at least 5 years of in-house marketing or business development experience at an AmLaw firm

    • Proven track record in legal marketing, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the nuances that drive success in this sector

    • Deep understanding of legal industry trends, client needs, and BD best practices

    • Experience in strategic planning and relationship management

    • Willingness to travel

  • Leadership & Mentorship:

    • Exceptional leadership skills with demonstrated success in managing and mentoring teams in fast-paced, high-stakes environments

  • Strategic & Operational Acumen:

    • A strategic thinker with a strong operational focus—able to craft and execute plans that convert vision into tangible results

    • Adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, with an emphasis on detail-oriented execution

    • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys of all levels

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate strategic visions and operational plans

  • Educational Background:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or a related field

    • MBA or JD preferred
